New Emergency Room & Lab

With over 17,000 visits, the ER at the Southampton Hospital is one of the busiest in Grey Bruce.  The new ER and the Lab spaces have been significantly increased in size helping staff to better manage the number of patients seen in the hospital every year.  The expanded departments have more comfortable treatment space and provide better working conditions for our skilled staff and physicians.

The Southampton Hospital Lab and ER renovation project includes the following:

• 9,904 square-foot new addition
• 6,221 square-foot renovation
• new electrical main distribution panel
• 42 new parking spaces

The addition puts a new face on the hospital originally built in 1957, with additions in 1965 and 1978.

By creating a new main entrance and separate emergency entrance from High Street, public access has been greatly improved compared the previous configuration.

This is a significant project for Grey Bruce, and the renovated hospital is a major asset to residents and visitors
