Volunteer At the Foundation

The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation offers a number of unique, gratifying and engaging volunteer opportunities that will suit various interests and schedules. We strive to involve volunteers in ways that are meaningful by partnering on the execution of events, long and short-term projects, fundraising initiatives and administrative tasks that provide opportunities to contribute in many ways to the Foundation itself and the community beyond.

A strong partnership between SMHF and our community is the key to success! Foundation volunteers bring various experiences, skills and ideas to their role including organization, leadership, communication, project management, event coordination and public speaking.

To become a volunteer with the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, please e-mail us at info@smhfoundation.on.ca or call the office at 519-797-3230, ext. 3230. Thank you!

Volunteer with the Auxillary

The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Auxiliary was formed in 1948 and was originally called the Ladies Aid. Today, the Auxiliary has over 100 members, most still active in attending monthly meetings, volunteering at the hospital and participating in the social and fundraising events.

The Auxiliary’s fundraising events include a Valentine’s Day Tea, tag days on the July long weekend, a bi-annual golf tournament in August and a Christmas Bazaar in November.  Over and above this, the Auxiliary runs a lovely gift shop in the Southampton Hospital (currently closed while the hospital is undergoing renovations) and of course, the volunteers will help guide you around the hospital to various departments, including the lab, the Operating Room area and the in patient bed unit upstairs.

One event that is always popular is Opening Day at “Armen’s Cafe” in Southampton – a charming restaurant with great food on High Street.
